Black woman-owned businesses are invited to apply for an exciting vendor opportunity as part of the ‘Black Tides’ | An Invitation event.
Taking place on Saturday 12th July 2025 from 12-9pm ‘Black Tides’ | An Invitation is a day-long building takeover curated and produced by multi-award winning writer, playwright, producer and curator, Siana Bangura.
The event honours the themes of her recent play, ‘Swim, Aunty, Swim!‘ (named Best New Play at the UK theatre Awards 2024).
As well as panels, films, music, poetry, a wellbeing space, and of course West African Food, there will also be a marketplace, centring the wares of Black-women owned businesses.
Ama’s African Market is curated in honour of the fictional character ‘Ama Acheampong’ from the world of ‘Swim, Aunty, Swim!’, resident fashionista, designer, and businesswoman. She embodies ambition, drive, style, creativity, and passion and fiercely champions the women in her life.
Therefore we create this marketplace as an opportunity to lift up Black woman-owned businesses, and encourage attendees of the event to enjoy their products, talents, and learn more about their work, and support what they do.
The marketplace will run from 12-6pm at BRIG café, The Warehouse, 54-57 Allison St, Birmingham B5 5TH.
Find out more and submit an application via our online form, applications close 11.59pm on Friday 30th May.
